 The North Shore of O'ahu is most famous for the monster waves that strike this shoreline during the winter months. Top surfers and curious onlookers crowd Sunset Beach, Banzai Pipeline and Waimea Bay waiting for "the big one". During the calmer months, visitors enjoy pristine diving and snorkeling conditions.
The rural community of Haleiwa is the hub on the North Shore, overlooking Waialua Bay with its restaurants and shops. Officially designated a historic, cultural, and scenic district in 1984, Haleiwa was the site of Queen Liliukalani's summer home. (for more information on Haleiwa Click here)
 For activities other than surfing, the North Shore offers skydiving, sailplane, glider, and ultralight rides at Dillingham Airfield. There is also the Waialua Coffee Visitors Center at the old Waialua sugar mill, now a working coffee mill.
Hawleiwa Ali'i Beach Park is the setting for television series,
"Baywatch Hawaii".

Take H1 west bound. Take H2 North and get off at exit 5 (Wahiawa). Go right and this will bring you to the north shore. |
