Manana Island

Also known as Rabbit Island.

Manana Island is located on the Windward side of O'ahu, north of Makapu'u Point. The shape of the island actually resembles a rabbit but it was named Rabbit Island because rabbits actually live there after a rancher released the animals there. Today the island serves as a seabird sanctuary.

Manana Island can easily be seen from several beaches along the Windward Coast

Hiking to the top of Makapu'u Point where the Makapu'u Lighthouse is located gives a fanastic view of this island as well as the entire East Coast. (see Makapu'u Lighthouse Trail)

Take Kalanianaole Highway east from Waikiki. You can see Rabbit Island out in the bay after you round Makapu'u Point (just before Sea Life Park) all the way to Wailea Point (just before Lanikai).
