H. A. Baldwin Park: "Tribute to Harry A. Baldwin", for his contributions to Maui.
The facilities and beach itself are the draws here. The beach is beautiful, but the wind can make it less appealing to the person wanting to sit and read a book. The wind is usually calmer in the morning and usually comes up by noon. This is a great family beach and draws a number of folks from Paia which is within walking distance.
I have seen wind surfers here, but Kanaha and Ho'okipa are better for surfing and wind surfing. You can launch a kayak from Baldwin Beach. During calm days the far outer reef is popular with local spear and net fishermen.
The wind and high surf can be a hazard. Where there's wind there's also current. Be careful on the outside of the offshore reef, this is where people get into trouble.
There's plenty of opportunity for theft at Baldwin beach since the parking lot's view from the beach is blocked by a sand berm. Don't leave your valuables unattended. Much of the beach borders sand and grassy berms, there have been occasional sexual assaults on this beach. Be aware for your own safety.
There are often people using the community facilities and are sometimes loud. Be aware that there can be large gatherings of people here, especially near the pavilion.
Do not leave any valuables unattended at the beach or in your car, even in the trunk.

Baldwin Beach Park is a community beach park so it has all kinds of facilities. There are the usual rest rooms and showers, there's also an open area for baseball or softball, and soccer or team sports (which is popular on Sundays). Baldwin beach also has picnic facilities, and a roofed pavilion for large parties. Lifeguards are present on the Paia end of the beach.
There used to be camping allowed at Baldwin Beach, the county closed it down a few years ago due to over use.
