This public golf course was built in 1929 and later donated to the state by Walter McBryde. It was only the second course to be built on Kauai. Today is one of the finest, and certainly the least expensive course in the state. For only $7 per day, a person can play to their hearts content.
Duncan McBryde developed this land after leasing it from King Kamehameha III in 1860. His son, Walter, eventually purchased the 178-acre estate. He loved the area so much that he was buried near the 8th hole of the golf course. The park features a small Japanese Garden, legend stones and beautiful panoramic views.
This is the eighth oldest golf course in the state of Hawaii. Wind is a prevailing factor when playing this course as it overlooks the plains and the Pacific Ocean.
